Compiling a top 10 list of movies (or TV shows) is very difficult, and increasingly so. With over a century of cinema to choose from, no listing or article can ever hope to be definitive because, even if you saw an acknowledged-classic film each and every day - you simply would not live long enough to watch a small fraction (and that's only those films which the polls of critics have selected). When we have to factor in cultural bias, aesthetical preferences, individual tastes, emotional and/or intellectual maturity, pedantry, bad memory, snap judgements, and the vagaries of favouritism... any result is suspect.
So why do we do it? Discerning viewers, film buffs, cinephiles and other know-alls just accept this waking nightmare of lists-o-mania is here to stay. Without apology, VIDEOVISTA offers yet another outlet for generic rants, chronological ratings and considered A-Z opinions.
