Allegedly 45 minutes in DVD release, my preview seemed about half of that and was bereft of extras. Extras available are, apparently, a 'making of',
behind-the-scenes, technical stuff, deleted stuff, bloopers, trailers and stuff I don't have an explanation for.
Robot Chicken uses stop-motion animation of jointed dolls to create their world, which works pretty well except they look kind of weird
around the mouth. This is a very funny treatment, and I enjoyed it much more than the
Family Guy: Blue Harvest version of Star Wars: A New Hope.
It would rather spoil the joke to review this too closely but I particularly enjoyed Emperor Palpatine at the hairdressers, the stormtrooper
'bring your daughter to work day', Admiral Ackbar's bad dinner date, and Jar Jar Binks' new role re-voicing an accident victim's description of
her car crash.
A joke at the end sees two Imperial Guards discussing their defeat with the death of the Emperor. One of the guards can't understand how, with
tens of thousands of ships and soldiers, they have accepted that the Empire is over. Surely someone would fill the vacuum left by the Emperor's
death and fight on? He has a point, but for God's sake don't let Lucas know or he'll start over with episodes six, seven, and eight, as we all
clearly heard him say he intended to do back in 1977.
