The big-screen remake of the popular television show, this release is the 'unseen' version,
with 15-rated footage absent from the 12-rated cinematic release. It has lots of scantily
clad (and quite a few topless) babes and a racy bloopers reel at the end of the movie. I'm not going to pad this review out - The Dukes Of Hazzard - seen or unseen - is awful! It has been given two marks from me for the soundtrack, featuring the Allman brothers, Lynyrd Skynard, Willie Nelson and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Double Trouble and Willie Nelson (who I think is a bit of a legend). As for Burt Reynolds... how can he do something amazing like Boogie Nights and then this? Then again, he did do the Demi Moore vanity project Striptease... I can see why movie execs thought this would work and the cast are certainly attractive and the basic premise of the movie quite engaging, however the plot pans out to nothing (the Dukes trying to save their beloved Appalachian backwater Hazzard from being strip mined by Reynolds' Boss Hogg) and there is far too much emphasis on cheap sexual innuendo and shots of Jessica Simpson's tits and ass. Yawn! The real 'star' of this film is the General Lee - the car - but even though this car has more personality than actor Seann William Scott, who plays its owner Bo Duke, this piece of metal is not enough to raise this film out of the pits. Two 'Easter eggs' are hidden on Seann William Scott's t-shirt and Burt Reynolds' ring in the special features menus. The first provides a showcase for a Dukes fan whose foot is tattooed like the General Lee (?) and the second finds the stars' dummy doubles living it up in the red light district.
